Creating Simple Shadows

This is not an artful creation. Only an example of how to create simple shadows using ImageMagick's Composite and Charcoal functions.

Take this shape to ImageMagick Studios More shapes can be found here.

Once your shape loads click the Composite tab and enter the url of the abstract image below. Choose "In" from the Compose dropdown list and click the Composite button.

And this will be your result. Save that image.

Go back, click the Fx tab, enter "20x20" into the parameter box and choose "Charcoal". The first number is the strength/depth of the Charcoal and the second number is the blur amount for the Charcoal.

You will get this neat fuzzy mask.

Now click the Composite tab, make sure the abstract link is still in the url box. If it isn't you will need to paste it in again. Choose "Multiply" from the Compose dropdown list. Click the Composite button to produce this.

Now click the Composite tab again and enter your saved url from the transparent you made. Choose "Over" from the Compose dropdown list and click the Composite button.

That's it. You will now have a finished shadow graphic.

This method has a LOT of possibilities. Would be an easy way to shadow clip art and gifs of all kinds.
