MSNtv is capable of downloading quite a few audio file formats.The quickest ones to download are Real Audio, Windows Media Audio and ShockWave Audio files because they are streaming and play as they load.

MSNtv can download the following formats:

MOD.669 .mod .mtm .s3m .stm AND .xm digital format using sampled audio some with voice samples (unlike MIDI)
MPEG.m1a .mp2 .mp3 .mpa AND .mpg not to be confused with MPEG video (.mpg)
Real Audio .ra .ram .rm Real Player G2 audio and lower versions only (this audio file streams, meaning the audio plays as it loads)
Windows Media Streaming Audio .asx .asf most Windows Media streaming audio files (28.8 or 56k) will play on MSNtv (with the exception of first-gen Classic users)
ShockWave Audio.swasimilar to Real Audio in that it streams - very difficult to find files in this format
WAVE.wavWindows WAVE audio, very popular format


NOTE: MSNtv boxes don't have much RAM memory, therefore MSNtv can only download sound files that are around 1MB in size and under (actual amount downloaded depends on the file type). Make sure that the files are small before you download, to get the entire file. Since Real Audio, Windows Media Audio and Shockwave Audio are all streaming formats (play as they load) you can ignore the file size because mostly any file of these categories should play completely on MSNtv.
